MXCO and Michael Andersson present a Four Hands Dinner for Cinco de Mayo
On May 5, José Manuel Cruz Martinez and Michael Andersson take over the kitchen at MXCO for an exclusive Cinco de Mayo evening where their experience and expertise come together in a unique five-course menu.
A Four Hands Dinner, as the name suggests, is a collaborative dining experience where two chefs, often from different culinary backgrounds, create a menu based on their individual specialties. Cinco de Mayo, celebrated on May 5, commemorates Mexico’s victory over France at the Battle of Puebla in 1862 and has become a festive occasion marked by food, drinks and celebration.
Michael Andersson, known for his deep knowledge of meat and passion for tacos, joins José and his expertise in Mexican cuisine for MXCO’s Cinco de Mayo celebration. The evening features live mariachi, tequila in the glass and an atmosphere that brings a touch of Mexico City to Stockholm.
Through MXCO, José Martinez brings the flavours of Mexico City to Stockholm. With carefully selected ingredients, handmade tortillas and a bar where mezcal and tequila take the lead, a distinct gastronomic identity is created. MXCO offers a complete experience where food, drinks and atmosphere come together.
Now, MXCO welcomes Michael Andersson, winner of Chef of the Year 2024 and restaurateur behind Sperling & Co. His restaurant has also been ranked number 69 on the list of the World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurants. Michael has long had a strong interest in Mexican cuisine, serving tacos both professionally and at home. His winning dish as Chef of the Year was in fact a taco, now serving as inspiration for one of the dishes on the menu.
“It’s incredibly exciting to collaborate with José and create a menu together. I look forward to exchanging knowledge between our kitchens and learning from José’s expertise in authentic Mexican cooking. Together, we invite guests to a seating featuring a menu built around authentic tacos, with clear influences from grill and barbecue,” says Michael Andersson.
The evening offers a lively atmosphere where food and live mariachi take center stage, accompanied by drinks curated by Björn Kjellberg from Röda Huset. For the occasion, he has created an exclusive tequila-focused pairing. The menu consists of five courses and will be served at MXCO on May 5, 2026.
