Celebrate Las Posadas in December and January!

December and January become extra festive at our place as we invite you to a celebration of the Mexican tradition, Las Posadas. Inspired by one of Mexico’s most significant holidays, dating back to the 16th century, we create a lively atmosphere filled with flavors, music, and aromas that transport you straight to the streets of Mexico City.

Las Posadas is a nine-day tradition celebrated between December 16th and 24th in Mexico, Guatemala, and parts of the southwestern United States. With roots in Roman Catholicism, the celebration has grown into a cultural festivity where light and song play a central role. The tradition is believed to be a blend of Spanish Catholicism and the Aztecs’ December celebrations honoring the birth of Huitzilopochtli.

At MXCO, we bring this tradition to Stockholm and extend the joy across four festive weekends in December and January:
December 13-14, December 20-21, December 27-28, and January 3-4.
Celebrate with us on Fridays and Saturdays, both during Saturday brunch and in the evening, with a specially curated menu, delicious drinks, and vibrant music.

Here’s what you can look forward to:

• Pozole

  A traditional Mexican soup that warms during winter evenings. Pozole is prepared with broth, tender pork belly, ribs, guajillo (a mild chili), and hominy. Seasoned with oregano and thyme, it’s served alongside crispy tostadas. A true classic and a must during Las Posadas.

• Ponche

  Our version of traditional Mexican “mulled wine,” filling the room with a wonderful aroma. Ponche is brewed with hibiscus, apples, pears, pineapple, apricot, cinnamon, and star anise. Served non-alcoholic as the base, it can also be enhanced with 4 cl tequila reposado for those who prefer.

• Cagamas

  During Posadas, it’s tradition to drink large beers. At MXCO, you’ll find 1-liter bottles of San Miguel, a Spanish beer close to the Mexican soul.

• Horchata with Rum

  For a sweet and refreshing experience, we offer Agua fresca Horchata topped with 4 cl rum.

• Chupitos

  Shots without the fuss. Affordable options with tequila and mezcal – no nonsense, just pure enjoyment.

During these weekends, we’ll turn up the atmosphere with DJs, so keep an eye out for our music nights! Our special menu, featuring everything from pozole to horchata and chupitos, will be available on Fridays and Saturdays to ensure no one misses out on this flavorful experience.
